• In addition to Cybersettle, blind settlement negotiation is also available through clickNsettle.com. This service imposes a 60-day period for negotiation, which consists of an unlimited number of confidential bids. If the plaintiff submits a demand that is within 30% of the defendant's offer, the service automatically settles the case at the midpoint. The service also allows a party to submit a "walk away" or "final bid," figure, the existence (but not the amount) of which clickNsettle discloses to the opposing party. ClickNsettle also offers private court services, no-fault arbitration, video conferencing and worldwide arbitration and mediation.
• JAMS, an organization of full-time neutrals and private judges, is instituting an online program (involving online text, voice and video) for resolving e-commerce disputes between businesses. The site's search tool locates arbitrators and mediators by name, location or specialty.

Edgar Online offers free and subscription access to SEC filings, which are available on the date of filing (as opposed to two days later, on the SEC site). The day's and the week's filings appear in charts that can be sorted by company, type of form and time of filing. Besides the immediacy of availability, another unusual feature is the engine that searches by people's names. This tool will also pull up all the names associated with a specified company. Four levels of subscription services exist, which offer varying levels of access to daily filings and Insider Trader Forms 144. Subscribers may sign up for e-mail alerts customized to their specifications. Non-paying visitors may view the list of the day's filings, access documents one day after filing time, search Proxy Filings by people's names, download financial data schedules, and use the Edgar database back to 1994.
